Just after 2351 Atlantic Standard Time on 11 March 2022, 87.5 nautical miles southeast of Canso, Nova Scotia, the master of the fishing vessel Mucktown Girl reported to the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, that the vessel was having electrical problems.
The ferry Holiday Island operated on a 75-minute route that crosses the Northumberland Strait between Caribou, Nova Scotia, and Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island (PEI). On 22 July 2022, the vessel departed for Wood Islands on the 2nd voyage of the day. As the vessel approached Wood Islands, the fire alarm sounded in response to an engine room fire. The engines were shut down immediately and the fuel supply valves were closed shortly afterward.
On , the passenger and vehicle ferry Confederation, with 217 passengers on board, sustained a rudder failure and grounded while leaving Caribou, Nova Scotia. The vessel refloated and, with the assistance of the Canadian Coast Guard Cutter Cape Spry, returned to the dock in Caribou.
On 20 August 2022, at around 1700 Eastern Daylight Time, the passenger ferry Sam McBride, with 6 crew members and approximately 910 passengers on board, struck the dock while berthing at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal in Toronto, Ontario. Twenty passengers were reported injured. Emergency services responded to the occurrence and 6 of the injured passengers were taken to hospital. The vessel and dock sustained damage. No pollution was reported.
On 10 September 2022, the Island Bay was on an ecotour with 2 crew members and 5 passengers on board when the crew reported that the vessel was taking on water. The crew and passengers subsequently abandoned the vessel in Carpenter Bay, Haida Gwaii, British Columbia. During the abandonment, 1 passenger was washed away and was rescued.
The self-propelled barge Rivière Saint-Augustin reported that a crew member was found seriously injured while on its voyage from Chevery, Quebec, to Saint-Augustin, Quebec. The injured crew member was evacuated from the vessel. No damage or pollution was reported.
On 26 October 2022, the passenger vessel Kawartha Spirit had a bottom contact near Purcells Cove at the entrance to Northwest Arm of Halifax, where it was navigating in restricted visibility with 59 people on board. This contact resulted in damage to both propellers and port rudder.
The vessel was able to return to its berth in Halifax under its own power. No pollution or injuries were reported.
On , the oil and chemical tanker Kivalliq W. was transiting toward Baker Lake, Nunavut, and reported making bottom contact with an uncharted object while exiting the Chesterfield Narrows. As a result, the vessel sustained damage on the starboard side. The vessel was cleared to complete its voyage on its own and proceeded to Les Méchins, Quebec, to dry-dock.
No pollution was reported.
On 18 June 2023, the submersible Titan, with 5 people on board, was descending to the wreck of the Royal Mail Ship Titanic, located 372 nautical miles south-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland and Labrador.
