TSB deployed investigators following an occurrence during takeoff in Halifax, Nova Scotia

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) deployed a team of investigators to the Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport to examine a WestJet Boeing 737 Max 8, that is reported to have been involved in an occurrence during takeoff. The flight had departed Halifax, Nova Scotia enroute to Edmonton, Alberta, but diverted to Montréal, Quebec. The TSB is gathering information and assessing the occurrence.


The TSB is an independent agency that investigates air, marine, pipeline, and rail transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
