TSB launching national investigation and issuing one recommendation following 2022 ferry fire

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island,  — 

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) will launch a national investigation into marine vessel fires and will release its investigation report (M22A0258) into the fire onboard the Holiday Island ferry near Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island, in 2022.

The TSB makes recommendations to eliminate or reduce safety deficiencies that pose significant risks to the transportation system and warrant the attention of regulators and industry. As part of its mandate, the TSB advances transportation safety by conducting independent investigations, including national broad safety issue investigations when necessary.
