The occurrence

On 03 November 2023, a privately operated Pilatus PC-24 aircraft registered to Mark Anthony Group Inc. was conducting a flight from Vancouver International Airport, British Columbia (BC), to Kelowna Airport, BC. Prior to cruising altitude, the crew notified NAV CANADA’s Vancouver Control Centre of a flight control problem. They declared an emergency and requested aircraft rescue and firefighting services to be on standby at Kelowna Airport. The aircraft landed without incident.

On 2 November 2023, a Piper PA-31-350 operated by Eagle Air Enterprises Limited was conducting a flight from Sachigo Lake Airport, Ontario, to Winnipeg/James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, Manitoba, with a pilot and six passengers on board.

On 21 January 2024, the Air France Airbus A350-900 aircraft (registration F-HTYH, serial number 0488) was operating as flight AFR 356 from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (LFPG), France, to Toronto/Lester B.

On 22 January 2024, an Agusta AW119 MKII helicopter, owned by Skyline Helicopters Ltd., and leased to Northern Escape Heli Skiing, was conducting heli-ski operations approximately 21 nautical miles northwest of Terrace, British Columbia, with 1 pilot, 1 ski guide and 5 passengers on board.

On the evening of 20 June 2023, 3 pilots from the Richcopter Inc. flight training unit, each flying a Cessna 150 aircraft, were conducting night circuits and touch-and-go manoeuvres under visual flight rules (VFR) from the Ottawa/Gatineau Airport, Quebec.

On 10 January 2024, a De Havilland DHC-3T aircraft, operated by Kississing Lake Lodge Ltd. (dba as Wings Over Kississing), was conducting a flight from Wollaston Lake Airport , Saskatchewan, to Points North Landing Airport, Saskatchewan.

On 13 April 2024, a Beechcraft B200 King Air aircraft, operated by Keewatin Air LP, was conducting a flight from Goose Bay Airport, Newfoundland and Labrador, to Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, Ontario, with 2 crew members and 3 passengers on board.

On 30 March 2024, a de Havilland Dash 8-314 Cargo, operated by Air Inuit, was conducting an instrument flight rules flight from La Grande Rivière Airport, Quebec, to Kangiqsujuaq (Wakeham Bay) Airport, Quebec, with 3 crew members on board.

The occurrence

On 01 May 2024, an Aerospatiale AS 350 BA helicopter, operated by Aberdeen Helicopters Ltd., took off from Vernon Airport, British Columbia, on a visual flight rules training flight, with 2 crew members and 1 passenger on board.

After a short time in flight, the helicopter’s hydraulics were shut off to accommodate the training exercise. A few minutes later, the helicopter began to pitch nose-down.
