About the viewer
Data can be viewed for individual years or across multiple years using the year selection options available on the platform. You may choose a single year to focus on a specific period, select multiple years to compare data over time, or click the “Select All” checkbox to display data for all available years. The chart and table will update automatically based on your selections.
The bar chart displays the number of occurrences corresponding to the selected years. To adjust how these values are displayed, you can use the slider located to the left of the table. This slider allows you to zoom in or out on the range of occurrences shown in the bars, making it easier to focus on smaller variations or to view the full range of data.
By combining year selections with the zoom functionality, you can explore trends and patterns in greater detail across different time periods.
About the dataset
The TSB is publishing data from its Pipeline Occurrence Database System (PODS) on reportable accidents and incidents (which together are called occurrences) for use by industry and the public. The TSB gathers these data in the course of its investigations and uses them to analyze safety deficiencies and identify risks in the Canadian transportation system.
Content of the dataset
Some data collected by the TSB and recorded in PODS will be excluded from the public database to protect third-party, personal and privileged information, in accordance with the Canadian Transportation Accident Investigation and Safety Board Act, the Privacy Act and the Access to Information Act.
The data in text fields is provided in English and French, while free-text fields contain data in the language in which it was entered. Some of the data is from sources not subject to the Official Languages Act and are therefore available only in the language in which it was provided.
